Emily Gray became Artistic Director of Trestle in 2004. Previously she was Artistic Director of TAG Theatre Company, a young peoples touring theatre based in Glasgow. From 1999 she was the Associate Director at Unicorn Theatre, the UK’s leading theatre for children and young people. In 1996 she was awarded the Channel 4 bursary for young directors at Nottingham Playhouse and Roundabout.
Emily studied Theology at Cambridge University and trained in directing at The Central School of Speech and Drama and has since worked extensively in movement theatre and devised storytelling theatre. Emily is an ambassador for culturally diverse work in the eastern region, leading through the example of placing diverse work at the heart of Trestle’s vision.
Evita Bier recently joined Trestle as Executive Director. Previously she was Administrative Director and Festival Producer at the Warehouse Theatre, Croydon. She has also worked for Monstrous Regiment, the Sphinx Theatre, the Bibi Crew and the Arts Council, as well as promoting Italian visual artists and mask maskers in the UK. Evita has a business background having worked for many years in the commercial sector in both Italy and the UK before gaining a degree in English and Drama at London University (Goldsmiths College). Evita speaks fluent Italian and English and has a particular interest in Commedia dell'Arte and masks.
