“We are sad to say that the news of a second national lockdown means that Trestle Arts Base must once again close its doors to the public. The Arts Base will close from Thursday 5th November until the 2nd December 2020 in line with current government guidelines. We have been so pleased to welcome everyone back over the last two months and although we’re disappointed at the latest announcement, we are ready and prepared to keep providing creative opportunities.

For the next 4 weeks, Trestle’s Inclusive Groups and Trestle School of Drama classes will all continue online alongside many of our regular classes and are happy to report that our Mask Department will remain open for orders during this time. We are also delighted to announce that we will be offering a COVID secure takeaway service from our Gallery Café. The opening times are Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm.

For more specific class information please check the website, contact your course provider or contact us directly at takingpart@trestle.org.uk. We will keep our social media updated with news of returning to the building.”

“We hope everyone had a relaxing half term and want to assure you that following the news on Saturday we are working on plans for the following 4 weeks to enable us to continue to support our local communities, provide high quality training and creative experiences and make and distribute our fabulous masks.

All sessions at the Arts Base will go ahead as planned until Wednesday and we will be giving detailed information on the next few weeks as soon as possible so please keep an eye on our socials and your emails”

“In addition to our earlier update regarding the phased reopening of the Arts Base we can now confirm that we will be beginning our School of Drama classes from week commencing 14th September and our Inclusive Groups from week commencing 21st September. Please check the specific classes for more details.

The café will now be open on a limited basis for takeaways. Please see HERE for timings and more information”

“After opening our mask workshop we have been working hard to ensure that the rest of our venue is Covid compliant and ready to welcome people back. Our customers, participants and staff are our number one priority and we are keen to provide them with the safest way of returning. For this reason we are planning a phased reopening of the venue.  At the moment the following applies.

  • We have now announced our School of Drama Summer School for August HERE with full Covid compliancy.

  • Some private room bookings at Trestle Arts Base for small groups will start to go ahead with enhanced hygiene precautions. Please contact your class provider for more details on whether this applies to your class and when and how they plan to return. We will keep our website as up to date as possible to provide information.

  • We are currently consulting with our regular classes including School of Drama, Act Up! Sing Out! And Dance Now! We hope to return in the new academic year from September and will post updates on the website and our social media channels.

  • Unfortunately we are still postponing all large scale public events and programming in line with government guidelines.

  • The Trestle Arts Base café is still closed until further notice.

The venue is Covid compliant so we ask that if you are planning on visiting us that you do not do so if you are displaying symptoms. We have implemented a 2m one way flow system and ask that everyone follows 2m social distancing, sanitises their hands on entry and observes heightened hygiene whilst in the building such as mask wearing if appropriate for your session and using tissues to catch coughs and sneezes. Everyone entering Trestle Arts Base currently should be with a booked class or workshop and therefore will have given us their contact details in order for us to observe track and trace. We ask that you contact us or your session provider if you develop symptoms within 14 days of being in the building. This will also ensure that we can limit the capacity in the building to allow for social distancing.

There are also still plenty of resources online here, to keep you creative and please stay in touch with our social media channels @trestletheatre as we continue to share local and national creative opportunities.

This is a difficult time for all arts organisations and although we’re thrilled to be able to slowly start reopening we are still looking for support to help us get back up and running with all of our community groups and projects. Trestle Theatre Company is an unfunded arts charity so if you can give any donation– large or small – it will help us to continue to deliver the work we do. You can donate to us directly here - Thank you for your continued support

“We are thrilled to announce that our mask shop is now open again! We have been busy making our workshop Covid 19 safe and are very excited to get our orders out to you. As always our masks are longwearing and are able to be cleaned with antibacterial products and sterilizing solution to keep them safe to use at this time. For further advice on ordering or looking after your masks please contact us.

We are closely following government guidelines which means that sadly we are still closed for all other activity. There are still plenty of resources here, to keep you creative and please stay in touch with our social media channels @trestletheatre as we continue to share local and national creative opportunities.

This is a difficult time for all arts organisations and although we’re thrilled to be able to open our mask shop again we are still looking for support to help us get back up and running with the rest of our community groups and projects. “In light of the government’s recent announcements, it is with a heavy heart that we at Trestle Theatre Company have made the difficult decision to say “goodbye” to our Arts Base for a while and lock the doors.

You can stay in touch through our Creative Through Covid 19 page. We will send out an update by email as soon as we’re opening our doors again so if you are not already signed up to our mailing list click here to join.

As each of our mask sets are individually handmade to order and sent from our Arts Base we are sad to say that we won’t be able to ship or distribute our masks during this time but we are happy to reserve you a set to be ready and waiting to be dispatched once we are open again.

We hope to be in touch as soon as we’re back up and running and look forward to seeing you then. - Thank you for your support.”

“After careful consideration and consultation with staff and service users we at Trestle Arts Base have decided to limit our opening to the public in order to avoid contributing to the spread of COVID-19. We have not taken this decision lightly but have decided to do so after the recent announcements by the government and growing public awareness of the risks of social contact. Our customers, participants and staff are our number one priority and we are keen to continue to provide them with meaningful activity and work for as long as we can.

Currently, our plans are as follows:

  • We have decided to cancel all large scale public events and programming until Monday 20th April, but with plans to extend this should government advice change.

  • Our regular classes and courses that are run by Trestle will take place as planned unless deemed too high a risk. To this extent our inclusive groups, Act Up! Sing Out! and Dance Now! have unfortunately been cancelled until further notice.

  • Private room bookings at Trestle Arts Base for small groups will still be able to go ahead with enhanced hygiene precautions. Please contact your class provider for more details. We will keep our website as up to date as possible to provide information.

  • The Trestle Arts Base café will be closed until further notice.

We ask that anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 or self-isolating does not attend any of the classes or bookings taking place. Extra precautions are to be taken by those attending Trestle Arts Base by washing of hands on arrival and using tissues to catch coughs and sneezes. We also ask that you avoid any physical contact such as shaking of hands. .

As an independent, un-funded arts organisation this has had a profound impact on us financially and means over the coming months we will face financial challenges that will affect our future. The work we do here at Trestle provides a safe and creative space for over 100 people every week and brings quality arts and training to schools and other education establishments across the world.

At this difficult time we are kindly asking those around us who share our values of fully inclusive creative arts practice for all to consider supporting us by donating the money you paid for your bookings or courses should things be cancelled or to postpone where possible to a future course/booking.

We value all of our customers and bookers hugely and appreciate that this is a difficult time for everyone but any funds donated will go towards ensuring that we are able to continue to provide our current services after this crisis is over.

We completely understand if donating, postponing or carrying over your booking, ticket or session isn’t possible however and will be able to share information on how to claim a refund. All stakeholders will be notified of these changes.

If you don’t have a ticket, class, workshop or course booked but would like to further support the work we do at Trestle Theatre Company you can donate HERE. In these hard times we wish you all our love and support” - The Trestle Team

“In response to the Prime Minister’s recent press conference Trestle will be taking further advice and release a full statement as soon as we are able which will clarify our position moving forward. We will contact all Key Stakeholders as quickly as possible.

We ask for our customers patience and support as we work through this difficult situation and would like to reassure everyone that at Trestle the wellbeing and safety of our staff, patrons and artists is of utmost priority.” -The Trestle Team

“At Trestle we are doing everything that is reasonable to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus. We are monitoring updates and guidelines provided by the government and NHS regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19 and implementing the advice that is given.

At present we are still running our programme of classes, performances and workshops. We are passionate about the work we produce, the audiences we attract, the artists we work with and our dedicated staff team. However, our priority is all of their health and safety and also that of our customers.

Advice is constantly updated and currently, we remain operational with classes, workshops and shows mainly going ahead as planned. We continue to monitor the situation and should any of these events be cancelled or rescheduled we will inform our audiences and patrons immediately. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at Trestle Arts Base, for a show, workshop or class or just a cup of coffee.

Please be reassured that we are regularly sanitising handrails, handles, tables, chairs etc. Lastly and importantly we ask you to please help us follow all NHS advised precautionary measures, as we are. Frequent handwashing is critical and if you are experiencing any of the symptoms please refrain from visiting us, take care of yourself and we look forward to seeing you again when you are well again.” - The Trestle Team
