Crime of Love

1991

Crime of Love premiered after being carefully planned through a period of workshopping during which the use of melodrama and black and white films of the 1950s were explored together with classical Balinese masks.

The show involved the most complicated narrative structure to date and was performed in cinematic style. Instead of helmet masks, most were just facial, closely fitting the contours of the actor’s faces, realistic in size but with theatrical features.

Crime of Love opened in October and undertook a nationwide tour.
