Trestle Youth Board Blog | First Year Reflections

Our first year as Trestle’s Youth Board has come to a close, here are some of our reflections on the year…

Kai said, “This year I have enjoyed being part of the youth board since it allowed me to contribute to something that I love. It also made me feel even more part of the Trestle community. Finally, discussing options for the future of Trestle has been engaging.

Next year I am looking forward to contributing more independently to the youth board, by coming up with more complex ideas and plans to aid the growth of Trestle.”

Abi, Mila and Sofia all agreed that this year they have learnt new things, in particular;

  • Decision making within a theatre company

  • How a youth board runs

  • More about Trestle and the Trestle board

  • How to communicate with others

  • How a business runs and marketing skills

  • That fig rolls are very nice

They also had things they liked, namely the meeting biscuits…

  • Deciding the youth board logo and a slogan for Trestle School of Drama

  • The trip the Little Angel Theatre and writing the review

  • The social media takeover

  • Being part of the community

  • The snacks at each session

And as we look into the next year here are some things they are looking forward to;

  • Helping with Trestle events

  • Planning another 24 hours of drama event

  • Meeting new people

  • More theatre trips

  • Fundraising

  • Trying more snacks (fun flavoured crisps?)
